Summary
the first race

Phosphorus II is an Archambault A13, the one and only A13 ever built. The owner, Mark Emerson, bought the boat in mid-2017. It was formerly known as Teasing Machine and sailed by a professional French crew, very successfully.

It is a boat designed to be competitive offshore while remaining relatively easy to sail. In 2019 we had a full RORC programme. We scored 2 class wins, one overall win plus multiple other podiums and were 2nd overall for the season in RORC IRC1, 4th in IRC overall. We were also awarded the RORC youth trophy (Peter Harrison Trophy) for the season. Nothing happened in 2020...

Having done the 2021 Fastnet (6th overall) we then did the MSR, Transat and C600, so the 2022 programme is already well underway. For this season we are now racing in IRC zero since the bands have been changed. The rest of the programme is similar to what was intended in 2020 before the pandemic...

The previous Phosphorus was raced from 2011 to 2016. During that time we developed a solid core of regular crew who have sailed extensively with us in the UK and in the Mediterranean. Since acquiring the A13 we have added many new faces, some of whom are now regulars. But we are always looking for new squad members with the right attitude and aptitude.
